What is coaching?
Coaching supports you to live for today and plan for tomorrow.
This is done through a dialogue between you and the coach
Coaching is often compared with friendship, training, mentoring,
parenting and therapy. In fact, it takes elements from all of these.
Or putting it differently, all good friendships, training, mentoring,
parenting and therapy will contain some coaching. Here are the key
aspects of coaching:
- Coaching starts with the client and the coach exploring together.
This could be an exploration of the client's dreams, goals and
aspirations, or of blocks and obstacles
- The client has the answers. It is the coach's job to support
the client in finding the answers
- And sometimes the coach may offer some suggestions. However,
only after having a thorough understanding of the client's situation,
and leaving the client to decide which, if any, suggestion to
take up
- The client may change as a result of a coaching conversation.
Or the client may commit herself to doing something which will
take her significantly forward or which will change her
And typically coaching will also have the following aspects:
- Regular sessions, giving some degree of continuity and accountability
- Time to look at your life (job, business) instead of being in
your life. This gives you a chance to see the bigger picture and
maybe change direction
How do I coach?
- I coach by telephone or face to face (in Montpelier, Bristol,
UK)
- And we can do some of the coaching by email, although I strongly
suggest that we do include some telephone or face to face coaching
as well
- I work Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9 - 5 UK time (GMT
in winter, British Summer Time in summer)
- You call me
And does it cost anything?
My rates are
- £200 for 4 half hour telephone coaching sessions. It is
up to you how often to have your coaching sessions
- £175 for 4 weeks' email coaching
How to start
To get started, give me a call (+44 (0)117 955 0062) or email me
(coen@coachcoen.com). We
can either start straight away or you can have a complimentary half
hour trial session
Next I will send you (by post or email) a couple of things to get
us started, including a questionnaire. I suggest that you treat
the questionnaire as another coaching session. It contains various
questions to make you think about where you are and where you want
to go
And we will agree what day and time you will be calling me. At
the appointed time I will be sitting by the phone with my headset
on, ready for your call
